I’m your host Craig V and I’m personally spinning tunes from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond with an eclectic mix of hits, deep cuts, and album highlights.
Folk Rock. Hard rock. Acid Rock. Jazz rock. The 60s rock scene flourished in the garden of the long playing record. As the decade progressed, so did the multiplying types of rock.
One newcomer appeared that defied labels. Art Rock? Symphonic Rock?
Building on the extended jams came a genre that defied the 3 minute top 40 formula. Songs ten minutes, 20 minutes, covering both sides of an lp.
It became known as Progressive Rock.
And debates rage to this day. What makes a song Prog? Some say it the lack of soul. Some say unusual time signatures and extended keyboard work. Others confine it to a set field of artists.
Perhaps It’s Prog? You decide! This week on the All Vinyl Hour Plenty Of Prog! King Crimson. ELP. Genesis. Rick Wakeman. And more! Renaissance! Nektar! Mike Oldfield! And more!
Tune in to WNHN 94.7 -LP Concord, NH Fridays at 10 pm for rock, pop, and a little bit of soul from the last 60 years- The All Vinyl Hour
