Ancient and Modern #125: Clocks and Plato
From London in the year 1597, The Quintessential Sackbut and Cornett Ensemble plays John Dowland’s “Come again, sweet love doth now invite”.
The percussion ensemble Clocks in Motion plays Jennifer Bellor’s “Of Maker and Movement”, from their “Oneira” CD on the Aerocade Label.
The Schoenberg Ensemble was formed at The Hague in 1974. In 1990 they were performing a series dedicated to the music of Louis Adriessen and Steve Reich, which is how this recording came about. Louis Andriessen’s “De Staat” was inspired by Plato’s Republic.
