Followed by excerpts from Leonard Bernstein’s Mass, commissioned by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis for the 1971 opening of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. I read that at the premier, Mass was followed by 3 minutes of silence, and then a 30 minute standing ovation.
