Part One: Peter Nelson, author of “A More Unbending Battle; the Harlem Hellfighters’ Struggle for a Freedom in WWI and Equality at Home.” Peter tells us about the 369th Infantry Regiment, the first African American regiment mustered to fight in WWI. They fought alongside the French, because US segregation policy prohibited them from fighting with white US soldiers.
Part Two: Food Stamp expert Matthew Gritter joins us to discuss Trump’s Harvest Box proposal, and fills us in on Food Stamp history and reality vs. myth. Dr. Gritter is an assistant professor of political science at Angelo State University. He’s written 2 books about food stamps.
