Part One: Professor Jonathan Hassid of Iowa State U is an expert on China. He talks to us about how President Xi Jinping has cemented his grip on power by including his name and ideology in the Communist Party Constitution. Xi is now comparable in power to Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping.
Part Two: A radio story. Kristen Hare covers local news innovation for the Poynter Institute. She tells us the story of WNYC engineers bringing “radio to go” kits from Alaska to Puerto Rico, to help get WIPR in San Juan, back on the air. They did. This is a great story about the kind of community we see in the world of non-profit radio.
