It’s Texahampshire Friday, and Susan is your host!
Part One: The Voice of Texas, Scott Braddock of the Quorum Report with the weekly Texas update. We discuss the Trump “decision” on DACA and what that means, Houston’s recovery, immigration policy, what the Governor could do (but isn’t doing yet) to help facilitate the rebuilding – and more.
Part Two: Nancy West spent 30 years as an investigative journalist at the NH Union Leader, and is the founder and Executive Editor of InDepthNH.org, a non-profit watchdog news site. Nancy joins us to discuss a recent piece she wrote, “A State of Contradictions, Especially if you are Mentally Ill.” In NH, people who are mentally ill, who have been civilly committed to the state psychiatric hospital can be transferred to the State Prison (the men’s prison) to the Secure Psychiatric Unit, even if they haven’t been charged with or convicted of a crime, if they are deemed to be a danger to themselves or others. This includes both men and women – who can end up at the SPU, living with convicted felons.
