12 Noon: Brennan Centers Voter ID expert Attorney Diana Kasdan* on the sudden onslaught of Voter ID laws across the US, including NH. As the Brennan Center reports: Over the past year and a half, 18 states have passed restrictive voting laws, last week the New Hampshire legislature joined them with a compromise version of a voter ID bill. Starting for the September primary, eight different versions of ID, including student IDs, will be accepted for voting. In mid-2013, the number of acceptable ID cards is reduced to four and will not include student IDs. *Ms.Kasdan serves as counsel for the Brennan Center’s Democracy Program. As part of the Voting Rights and Election team, Ms. Kasdan focuses on litigation and advocacy to enhance political participation, prevent voter disenfranchisement, and ensure election integrity. 12:30pm: Fergus Cullen – Former chair of NH GOP Union Leader column entitled: Speaker O’Brien should declare victory and ride into the sunset “I get up every morning to confound my enemies,” Richard Nixon told his daughter. If O’Brien wants to confound his enemies, he should declare victory, go home to Mont Vernon — and not file for reelection to the House this week. His opponents would feel cheated. They won’t have O’Brien to kick around anymore….”
