Part 1: We interview Scott Braddock, editor of the Quorum Report about events in Texas.
The main topic of discussion in Texas this week is the scheduled Rodney Reed execution. Reed was sentenced to death for the murder of a woman in Bastrop county. Far right politicians (Rick Perry) call him “a bad man”, who should be executed, even if he did not commit the murder, because he had a record, though not for capital crimes. Celebreties like Ms. Kardashian and others have weighed in, because there is some doubt as to Mr. Reed’s guilt. Confusion exists because the victim, Ms. Styles, was living with her boyfriend, Mr. Fennel, at the time of her death. The boyfriend happened to be a police officer in Bastrop . It is not clear how much investigation was actually done.
Another topic that was discussed was DACA, which is before the supreme Court. The Trump administration is contending that since the DACA provision was an Executive Order, it can be set aside by another Executive Order. When Trump was campaigning, he indicated that he would let DACA stand, and the DACA children would be ‘safe’ from deportation, with the conditions. He has now changed his mind.
We had a discussion about Beto O’Rourke, and his decision to drop out of the presidential campaign. We speculate whether he will now run for the U.S. Senate. Although he has stated that he would not, but he will be at the El Paso Supporter Appreciation Day.

Part 2: We interview Robert Hennelly regarding former Mayor of New York Bloomberg, and his intention to run for President. Hennelly, as a resident of NYC, knows Bloomberg very well , and has written about him extensively. He noted the various initiatives that Bloomberg was known for, such as bans on public smoking, NYC ‘open for business,” the bans on large cups of soft drinks. During Bloomberg’s term many outside contractors were hired by the city, there were accusations of police brutality, and, generally a mixed record. We specualted on who would be Bloomberg’s base. He has money and media.
