Part 1
We interview Scott Braddock, Editor of the Quorum Report. We discuss the NH Primary and the resulting press coverage. There seems to be less media attention to the fact that Bernie Sanders won the primary, and it is discounted. This is distinctly different from the attention paid to Trump prior to the 2016 election, where Trump received $2 Billion worth of free publicity for every utterance or stunt. Trump is being challenged by the Democratic candidates, especially Bloomberg, who is prepared to spend enormous amounts of money in Texas. The Republicans expect to spend $1 Billion in Texas.
Part 2
We interview Alex Shepard, who writes for the New Republic about Sanders’ win in NH, and how it is being treated by the media, particularly MSNBC. MSNBC seems to have adopted the view that Sanders cannot win, and therefore discounts his victories. It is now the home of the “never trumpers”, who are disaffected Republicans. When Trump cites his claim that the economy is doing well because the stock market is doing well, they do not challenge this statement, even though most Americans do not own stocks, and do not benefit from the gains in the market. It is also important to note where the votes were for the various candidates. Sanders’ votes mere mostly in the poorer towns, and the college towns. The more “moderate” candidates’ votes were from cities, where the voters are better off. We also discussed Joe Biden’s candidacy, and how is not appealing to many voters, even though he had a lot of media attention. His ideas appear to be old, not progressive enough.
