Part One:
We chat with Alan Greenblatt, reporter for Governing Magazine, about his recent article, discussing the trend in almost all 50 states toward electing legislatures controlled by only one political party, and what, if anything, we can (or should) do about it.
Part Two:
We chat with Steffen Schmidt, Chair of the Political Science Dept at Iowa State University, about Pres. Trump’s persistence in pushing his border wall on our SW border, even though almost everyone — including Republicans representing border districts — opposes this policy. We discuss many politicians’ failure to recognize/respond to the changing demographics and the increasing inequality in the United States, as well as our economy’s reliance on labor performed by immigrants. Then we turn to the failure of the media to provide Americans with relevant specific information, to help us make smart choices.
