Part One:
We start with a brief discussion of Pres. Trump’s just-completed speech about the military situation in Iran, Oy! More tomorrow.
We chat with Grace Haley, researcher at the Center for Responsive Politics, about her research/analysis of differences in the way that women donate to political campaigns compared to male donors. Women (and other underrepresented candidates) face serious challenges when it comes to fundraising
These and other variables create significant obstacles for women, especially women of color, in leading successful political campaigns. What strategies have been most successful in partially overcoming them. How have these trends changed over time?
Finally, what happens when winning candidates break the mold?
PART TWO:
We speak with Arthur Delaney about his article in HuffPost about the Trump Administration’s proposed regulations making it more difficult for people with disabilities to receive Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits. The new rules would require SSD recipients to submit themselves to *more frequent* and *more stringent* “continuing disability reviews.”
What does this mean? Will the harsh new regulations win final approval? If they’re approved, will they withstand judicial review?
