Part One:

HOW MIGHT DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES ADDRESS THE DANGERS WE CONFRONT AFTER PRES. TRUMP’S MILITARY AGGRESSION AGAINST IRAN?

We ask this question of Bill Curry, who was twice the Democratic nominee for Governor of Connecticut and a White House advisor in Bill Clinton’s administration. Curry’s brilliant response is a clarion call for all Democrats to unite with each other around an enlightened foreign policy. This policy should promote the interests of ordinary American people rather than the profits of mega-corporations from the military-industrial complex (corporations which control the US government as well as its economy).

There seems to be a consensus among most Americans — not just among Democrats — recognizing the superiority of a more rational, diplomacy-based foreign policy, a nuanced building of relationships with (all) other nations, and a more open, transparent, well-analyzed consideration of international issues, including various alternative options, potential ramifications of each.

The Democratic candidates must pull together a coherent platform that sets forth these agreed-upon ideas, and communicate them to the voting public.

Part Two:

IOWA & THE DEMOCRATS: WILL IRAN BE AN ISSUE?

We again welcome “Dr. Politics,” Steffen Schmidt, professor of political science at Iowa State University. We analyze the possible effect that Trump’s latest Iran aggressions might have upon the Democratic primary contests and upon the general election in November. Now that the public’s attention is focused on Iran and US military actions in the world, the Democratic candidates have an opportunity to tell the public their own visions for how they would conduct foreign policy if elected president. The candidates have not had the opportunity to discuss these issues in previous debates, so this factor could be one important factor as voters weigh their options.

Dr. Politics also shares his birds-eye view of the latest developments in the Iowa caucus competition. It seems that what is really happening on the ground is not exactly the same as what major media sources are reporting. (Surprised?!)
