Part One:

We speak to Matt Motta, Professor at Oklahoma State University, about how to convince people to pay attention to real risks that they will likely face. Using earthquakes as an example, our guest explains how some folks do not have sufficient information about potential risks, while other people avoid thinking about the problem. Either way, the likely victims don’t take any action to protect themselves from risks.

Part Two:

We talk with Becky Little, freelance reporter for History.com, about the history of the US response to immigration from Mexico. We discuss her two articles, “How Border Crossing Became a Crime in the United States” (in 1929) and “The US Deported a Million of its Own Citizens to Mexico During the Great Depression.” These events form the historical context for today’s debate about immigration and deportation.
