Part 1: Arnie Arnesen and Scott Braddock, discussion of Texas politics. Discussion of possible investigation by the Congress of the attempted voter suppression in Texas. The removal of many thousands of “ineligible” voters from the rolls by the Acting Secretary of State in Texas, David Whitley., with the possible instigation by Governor Abbott. The Trump- proposed Mexico tariffs effects on the Texas economy had only one supporter, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. NAFTA has been good for Texas, and has enabled 200,000 jobs in Texas in recent years. Other topics covered the status of Medicaid expansion in Texas, and the “teaming up” of Ted Cruz and AOC over allowing contraceptive drugs to be dispensed over the counter. Related article:

Part 2: Arnie Arnesen , and guest Chiraag Bains, director of Legal Strategies at DEMOS, discussed his recently published article, “Disenfanchisement in US Prisons Thrives on Historically Racist Policies”. The discussion also included the fact that even after a person has been released from prison, that person may not be able to vote, thus marrying criminal justice and voter suppression. Some state (Vermont, Maine, Nevada, Utah)s have reestablished the franchise, but many states still keep this racist policy.
