Part 1:
We talk with Michael Mitchell of the Groundwork Collaborative, about how data should be gathered and used, when discussing the economy. Currently, the data does not reflect the quality of workers’ lives. Workers themselves should be asked about their struggles, and what kinds of factors are are important, not just the ‘captains of industry’.
Part 2:
We talk with Thomas Reilly about the problem of how Secretaries of State are selected and how their duties are defined. This varies across states, and ends up being partisan, and, increasingly, not independent. We discuss how this can be remedied. There are 10,000 voting jurisdictions in the US, and each is controlled by either Democrats or Republicans. That means that younger voters, who are not affiliated with either party, are not represented. Â
