Part 1: Scott Braddock, editor of the Quorum Report,
Status in Texas is fluid, because the Texas Supreme Court has made a quick decision about early voting. The voting period is now 3 weeks. The County Clerk in Harris County wanted to send out applications for mail in ballots, but the court did not allow this, and did not allow the installation of more drop off boxes. This disadvantages the suburban voters, who may have to travel long distances in order to use the single drop off box, located in the 2000 square miles county.
Many voters are confused: this is a form of voter suppression because voters are trying to keep up with the rules changes, venue changes, etc.
The governor has been selective about hs choices for openings and closings.
Seven top officials in the Attorney General’s office have resigned. The Atty General (Ken Paxton) is still indicted for various acts.
Part 2: Bill Curry, former candidate for governor of Connecticut, aide to President Clinton.
We hold a discussion of the Harris-Pence debate. Pence did not answer any questions. Though Harris also avoided some, though not to the extent that Pence did. Curry did not consider Harris forceful enough, and also did not think that the moderator, Susan Page, did not control Pence enough, who interrupted, refused to answer the questions that were asked, and ignored her. Curry also discussed his opinions of the courts, because they have been packed by Trump. He had suggestions for Democrats’ tactics with dealing with Republican actions and words.
