Although Iowa is a major food processor and packer, the governor, and other officials are hiding from Covid, and refusing to lock down the state. However, demographics are changing, and young Latinos, many of whom are employed in the food processing business, are becoming increasingly more important. Democrats are doing well in the polls. Iowans are generally populists, in a spectrum from conservative and liberal.

Art Cullen is editor of The Storm Lake Times in Iowa and won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing. Cullen is the author of the book, Storm Lake: A Chronicle of Change, Resilience, and Hope from a Heartland Newspaper, which will be published by Viking, an imprint of Penguin Random House.
