Part One:

DO BIASED JURORS ACHIEVE JUSTICE? We speak with William Snowden, founder of the Juror Project, which strives to bring more diversity — diversity in race, class, and life experiences — into American juries. The idea is that a group of jurors who examine evidence through a broad variety of experiential lenses will be better able to to come to a consensus that achieves a truly objective verdict.

If we fail to do this, we can’t say we’re complying with the Sixth Amendment right to trial by a jury of one’s peers. Snowden describes four systemic changes that we can make in order to accomplish the goal of justice in our trial system.

Part Two:

HAS TRUMP BECOME “THE MAD KING”? We visit again with “Dr. Politics,” Steffen Schmidt, professor of political science at Iowa State University. President Trump is making more and more outlandish statements and accusations — not just about his Democratic rivals but also about the members of his own party and administration. He is even implicating a growing number of other countries around the world in his portrayal of what he calls “normal” and non-“fake.”

Is Trump really losing it? Or is he “dumb like a fox,” carrying out a strategy to perpetuate his time in office? For example, he appears to be holding tightly onto VP Pence as if he were a life preserver. If Trump goes down, Pence might go with him. That would leave Nancy Pelosi as the President of the United States. Might Trump be hoping that his base will be so opposed to Pelosi that they will rally around Trump, at least through the 2020 election?
