It’s Labor Day – and we’re taking the day off. We chose to re-broadcast our August 15 show, because it’s informative and entertaining.
Part One: Sarah Strauss is a professor of anthropology at the University of Wyoming. She joins us to talk about engaging with other disciplines to explore environmental change and energy transitions. Sarah took a group of college students to Scotland to learn about the changes they’re making for their energy future.
Part Two: Lynn Q. Yu joins us to talk about her recent piece in Slate: “The Greatest Upset in Quiz Show History – Agnes Scott vs. Princeton, GE College Bowl, 1966.” This is the story of how 4 students from a woman’s college in Georgia defeated their opponents – the Ivy League boys from Princeton. The expectation gap was huge, and one of the female students was Agnes Scott’s first blind student. It’s no wonder this episode of College Bowl has achieved legendary status in trivia circles.
